The app blocker you cannot bypass. Made with care for people who've tried and failed to manage their phone addiction.
When we tried to use our phone less, we were serious. But when we found a reason to go back on our promises, no app blocker could stop us.
We designed a solution that is impossible to bypass while a block is active. Once you've set a timer or a schedule, Eject keeps you accountable.
Toggle. Remove the apps and walk away from your computer.
Good when leaving the house.
Timer. Remove apps for anywhere from 15 minutes to 90 days.
If you like how you feel, you can extend the timer.
Schedule. Hold your time when it matters most.
Comes with a 24-hour lockout period so you can't back out at the last minute.
I'm Dan. I grew up alongside the internet and video games, and have spent my entire career working in tech. Like many people, I knew that my relationship to technology was rooted in avoidant, relief-seeking behavior, and that tech companies spend a fortune trying to make their products as habit-forming as possible. Despite this, and despite trying several different solutions, I was unable to stay away from my phone for long enough to replace it with healthier habits.
We didn't want to design Eject as another productivity tool, because the problem was deeper than that. It's worth mentioning that Eject alone does not solve our problems.
These apps are a solution, they're just a solution that's quietly eroding our lives. We can't spend the rest of our lives shielded from distracting technology, but we can create enough distance from it today to start finding different, more lasting solutions.
Therefore, I invite you to see this not as a focus product, but as an addiction recovery tool. We encourage you to use it for as long as it's helpful to you, but the real goal is to replace compulsive technology use with more fulfilling connection with others. We have future plans to build a community around this, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, try using your newly found free time to call a friend you haven't talked to in a while. They'll be happy to hear from you.
